Richard “Kinky” Friedman, a beloved country music artist,passed away in ,
June at his Texas home at 79. Known for his satirical band Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys in the 1970s, Friedman recorded notable songs like “They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus Anymore.” Despite the band’s brief run, he released 18 albums, including his last, Circus of Life (2018), and toured with Bob Dylan. Beyond music, Friedman ran for governor of Texas in 2006 and sought political office in 2010 and 2014. A friend, Clive Hattersley, noted his battle with Parkinson’s and remembered him as a gifted communicator.
