Instead of Waterton Lakes National Park photos, here are highlights from a July 23, 2015, botanizing trip to Darryl Teskey’s land near Calgary. Five participants explored meadows and forests,
cataloging fungi, plants, birds, and insects for a detailed inventory shared with the landowner. A standout discovery was Red-belted polypores with guttation droplets, a process where fungi release moisture resembling tears, blood, or milk. Skipper butterflies, clustering in vivid orange, added to the experience. The weather held until dark clouds signaled the end of the trip. Despite falling behind on photo editing due to frequent excursions, the discoveries have been rewarding.
